When did you join the company?

1st June 2020

What prompted you to move to this new role?

I was fully employed, but I was looking for a new challenge in my professional career. I was quite happy in my job but I enjoy new experiences and in particular dreamed of working for one of the big players in the IT arena.

How did you find this role?

I primarily used the job site Pracuj.pl which is a popular site in Poland. I used key words from my skill set to look for new opportunities. In my case, I consider that it is important to use the correct key words to match your strongest abilities to the jobs on offer. I sent out 5 or 6 applications, I didn’t hear back from some, but I kept going.

Overall what is the best advice you can give other job seekers?

I didn’t tailor my CV or my online profile as I very much approached the hunt as finding the right match to me rather than making myself a match for the job. It is a question of attitude.

Do not give up. You will need to apply for several roles and you might be rejected by some of them. Keep trying and keep a positive outlook. Your next job is just waiting for you to find it.

What was your biggest challenge?

The biggest challenge is having to leave your comfort zone and pursue a new opportunity. Change is always unsettling but I approach this with a positive state of mind. Applying for a role during the Covid-19 pandemic brought its own challenges but it turned out to be simpler than I initially thought.

Has starting your new job been easier or harder than expected? And why?

The current situation makes it a bit harder as all the processes have been done remotely. However, the people on board have been a great support. I started my job today, working in a data centre with appropriate precautions in place because of the pandemic. I’m looking forward to becoming a solid member of the team.

What was your biggest positive surprise?

The biggest surprise was when I was told which company I will be working for. This is a techie’s dream job. As is the project I will be part of.
