Alan, Software Engineer at Bright Network, recommends spending time working on your weaknesses
City and country
Edinburgh, Scotland, UK
When did you join the company?
26th May 2020
What prompted you to move to this new role?
I had left a previous role voluntarily just before coronavirus outbreak
How did you find this role?
Applied through a variety of websites that aggregate jobs, consistently spoke to recruiters, just apply constantly, always have an eye out for places to apply.
Overall what is the best advice you can give other job seekers?
Take the time to develop your weaknesses - if you were told at one interview you need more X, go off and learn more X, do projects, show don't tell.
What was your biggest challenge?
Staying motivated to apply as job boards became empty - reminding myself that rejections from interviews is no reflection on your self-worth.
Has starting your new job been easier or harder than expected? And why?
Easier, people are going out of their way to introduce themselves - whether it's just down to the friendly colleagues I have or people being more aware due to circumstances.
